Microsoft Azure in the UAE means running Azure services from Microsoft's two in-country regions: UAE North in Dubai and UAE Central in Abu Dhabi. It suits organisations that need data to stay in the country, low latency for UAE users, or regulator-friendly hosting. emtech, an IT company founded in the UAE in 1993, designs, deploys and supports Azure workloads in these regions.
Yes. UAE North supports availability zones, so production workloads can be spread across separate data centres in the Dubai region for resilience against a single facility failure. Not every service is zone-redundant, so check each one in the design.
It means new subscriptions cannot deploy there by default; access is requested from Microsoft with a business justification, typically disaster recovery for workloads in UAE North. The range of services and VM sizes in UAE Central is also narrower.
Prices differ by region, and UAE regions are not the lowest-priced Azure regions for many services. The difference is often small compared with the cost of moving data across borders or failing a residency requirement, so compare both in the pricing calculator for your actual workload.
In most cases sensitive government data is expected to remain in the country, under the Dubai ISR and entity-specific policies, and cloud services must meet DESC requirements. Requirements depend on data classification, so confirm with your information security team before design.
Yes, on virtual machines in UAE North, subject to the vendor's certification and licensing rules for Azure. Confirm that the specific VM sizes certified for your SAP or Oracle workload are available in the region before committing.
Yes. Through the Cloud Solution Provider programme you can pay monthly for what you use, with no minimum term for pay-as-you-go consumption. Reservations and savings plans are optional commitments you can add later for steady workloads.
For regional services, customer data stays in the region you choose, apart from cases Microsoft documents, such as certain global services or replication you configure. Review Microsoft's data residency documentation for each service and record the exceptions in your evidence pack.
